IN THE STREETS: MORE HATS, MORE LIFE

January 10, 2018

So if you haven’t noticed, I’m kind of obsessed with hats. MORE HATS, MORE LIFE…AMIRITE?! And yes, I love trendy berets and cabby hats too, just in case you were wondering. This little gem though is by Janessa Leone…my all time favorite hat brand, which might become permanently attached to my head all year.

And yes, she’s a bit pricey. Coming in at a price point of $290, it’s a splurge, BUT I’ve always been a believer in quality over quantity and I definitely think it’s worth the dough. I’ve had my other Janessa Leone hat for almost 4 years now and it’s held it’s shape and maintained it’s rich color without a doubt.

Real talk. Is it just me or does it really seem like hats instantly elevate a look? Jeans and a t-shirt? Throw on a hat. Spring dress and boots? Throw on a hat. Sweats and a crop top? THROW ON A HAT. Maybe this is my personal way of solving frustrating outfit dilemmas, but I really love being able to throw on a hat and instantly feel “put together”…or being able to hide an unfortunate bad hair day. I’d have to say at the moment, wide brimmed straw hats and embellished cabby hats are my jam. Peep my faves for 2018 at the end of this post.

Tigermist Scherri Dress

SIDE NOTE…can we please talk about this dress for a second?! Yes, I know it’s the beginning of January and you’re probably thinking why the heck are you wearing a Spring dress…well, I don’t really have an answer for you…other than, I’m obsessed with it and I really wanted to shoot it ASAP. It’s by my babes over at Tigermist and I couldn’t be happier with it. It’s 100% see-through though, so I definitely recommend nude undergarments for it. Unfortunately, it’s currently sold out online, but I’ve linked it here, so you can sign up for when it comes back in stock!

Okay, back to hats. You can probably tell that I’ve removed the band around mine. Allysa…you did what to a $$$ hat?! Yes, call me crazy, but I’ve never been a huge fan of hat trims and I felt the need to get rid of it, so I did. I also tend to cut a lot of my shirts into crop tops and my jeans into shorts without hesitation, but that’s a discussion for another time.

This fit came together “unexpectedly” and by “unexpectedly”, I mean my wonderful photographer @stefaniemmariee definitely helped a sista out with choosing accessories and shoes while I was changing out of the back seat of my car. We both always gravitate towards the Doc Martens because well…they’re amazing and go with pretty much everything. Amazingness linked here.

Z. Cavaricci White Twill Pant

They’re all black, which is a different take on the classic, but still timeless, nonetheless. Honestly, it was a little challenging finding the perfect shoe to go with my Z. Cavaricci twill pants, but the Docs really pulled it all together. These pants are actually something my aunt said she used to wear when she was my age, so it was awesome to partner with them on bringing back a classic.

Phew! Sorry for the lengthy post. I figured I’d start the new year off right with a lot of content! Feeling refreshed, motivated and excited for what 2018 has in store. My first “Monthly Top 5” post is coming REAL SOON. Promise.

xx
